A Couple of New Works: Contemporary Ink Paintings

A Productive Weekend in the Studio

Last weekend was very productive. I am very satisfied with a couple of new works and would therefore like to present them.

Chinese Painting and Calligraphy as a Foundation

As before, the basis for my considerations are principles from Chinese calligraphy and painting.

Some works have a funny or provocative approach, like this sheet. The Chinese text reads in English: “If you are looking for a deeper meaning in this painting, you are looking in the wrong place.” (如果 您 在 此 图片 中 寻找 更 深层 的 含义 , 那么 您 在 寻找 错误 的 位置).

Abstraction, Color and Expression

The best work for me recently is this sheet. Powerful in expression, sensitive in color, exciting construction – at least that’s how I see it myself 🙂

The intersection of tradition with abstraction is fascinating.

Thank you very much! The older I get, the more I think that our traditional roots are particularly important.

I really like this, ““If you are looking for a deeper meaning in this painting, you are looking in the wrong place.” (如果 您 在 此 图片 中 寻找 更 深层 的 含义 , 那么 您 在 寻找 错误 的 位置).” If it weren’t so many words, I might have it as a tattoo… I like the painting that accompanies it. It’s perfect.

There is one more thing I forgot to mention: I used this typewritten-like characters so the statement looks more official 🙂

I agree with all the others here — lovely work. Exuberant and witty, too. 🙂
