I recently rediscovered the painters of Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider).[1] I had lost sight of them for a long time, but my old affection returned. After a long, beautiful walk through the Vienna Woods, I painted this picture.
Blue and green verticals gather into a woodland scene, with orange and yellow light across the top. Pale gaps break up the trunks, while the lower passages remain loose, somewhere between forest floor and reflected light.

[1] Der Blaue Reiter was an open circle of artists centred on Wassily Kandinsky and Franz Marc, known for its exhibitions of 1911–12 and the 1912 almanac. Kandinsky, Marc and Gabriele Münter organised the first exhibition after leaving the Neue Künstlervereinigung München in 1911.
