Now that the wearing of protective masks is part of our everyday life, I remembered this picture that I painted in Beijing in 1980.

At that time, there was the so-called democracy wall on Chang’an Avenue (simplified Chinese: 长安街). On this wall, newspapers were found that represented the first attempts at free expression by the Beijing population. The oil painting reflects those days.
