Homage: Conversations with Masters
Resonance, not Imitation: No artist creates in a vacuum. We stand on the shoulders of those who came before us. This portfolio is a collection of respectful bows—conversations across time with the painters, poets, and thinkers who have sharpened my vision. These works are not copies. They are stylistic dialogues. Sometimes I adopt a compositional idea, sometimes a technique, or simply a mental attitude, translating it into my own language of ink and abstraction.
The Western Modernists
The roots of my early visual language.

Lyonel Feininger:
Exploring the crystalline structure of light and space through graphic lines.
Hans Hartung:
Before I found Zen, Hartung showed me the power of the gestural stroke and the rhythm of black lines.

The Blue Rider (Der Blaue Reiter):
A tribute to the spiritual in art and the bold use of color that influenced expressionism.
Dialogue with Austria
Reflections on my cultural heritage.
Arnulf Rainer:
Rainer’s concept of “overpainting” resonates deeply with my approach to antique prints. It is an act of destruction and creation simultaneously.

Maria Tupay:
A nod to the subtle structures and graphic precision found in Austrian abstraction.
3. Eastern Influences
The masters of ink who taught me to see.
Huang Binhong:
The master of darkness and density. Studying his landscapes taught me that ink can be heavy as iron and yet full of life.

Zhang Huan:
A contemporary voice who challenges the body and the medium.
4. Cultural Icons
Inspiration from poetry and music.
Bertolt Brecht:
Inspired by Brecht’s satire “If Sharks Were People,” this work visualizes the deceptive nature of power structures. The dynamic between the large and small forms reflects the biting irony of authority and obedience found in Brecht’s writing.

Amy Winehouse:
A tribute to raw, unfiltered emotion and the tragedy of brilliance.
The Ongoing Dialogue
This series is fluid. As I discover new aspects in the works of others, new homages emerge. It is my way of saying “Thank you” to the history of art.
