…..just by using more Reds
OK, that was a flat joke :). Some time ago I featured some of my painted dreams in Dreamtellers. You usually use cool colors, especially blue and gray tones when you paint dream sequences. Now I wanted to try red as a dominant color and it works as it seems. (The red is actually much brighter in the real image.)
Since my work is often very much influenced by ideas from Chinese calligraphy, I wanted to try again to approach things in a more “western” way. This work is more of a study. I could have continued working, but I wanted to leave it as it was so as not to lose the basic mood.

Most of you will have noticed that I like walking the fine line between “realism” and “abstraction”. And I didn’t want to leave that area.

Work from December
I played around with quite a few more works as late as December last year with mixed results, so I put them aside. Now that I’ve gone through these works again, I want to show you two pictures.
Day and night and night and day
The underlying idea had something appealing to me – but it would take too long to explain it in more detail.

rest and movement
The second is a study in which I was concerned with movement and stillness. In an attempt to make Dao “tangible”, the comparison with a colony of bees came to mind. An incessant whirring and hustle and bustle, but at its core the whole thing is calm. Later on, I tried to transfer this basic idea to an (imagined) refugee camp. This is also “quiet” and yet characterized by movement. But of course, it’s about the idea as such and not about depicting something specific. That only takes place in the head anyway.

Extra:
A few days ago I was on the phone with a friend and we also talked about the not-so-good stock market. I encouraged him – just hold on…. Me: “My best share is 5000% profit.” He: “Could it be that you missed a zero?” Me: “You could be right, there’s definitely a zero missing.” “Ha, ha,” “Ha, ha.” Yesterday I looked at my portfolio again: 101,000%. Meanwhile, it is 108k up.

My trader soul says, “Sell man! What are you waiting for?” But then there is the Taoist soul and it says: “wu wei” [1]
Added later – because I didn’t state it clearly: The 101.375 is percentage points – that means the underlying investment has gained as 108k.
Well, unfortunately, the basic amount is too small for me to impress anyone or spend the winter in Bali 😊
