Comparing Two Versions of the Same Composition
A few days after finishing Waltzing Corona, I was still occupied with its composition. I made another painting to see how a different combination of three panels would work. In the variant below, the new work is on the left, the original left-hand painting moves to the centre, and the right-hand panel stays in place.
Here is the original arrangement for comparison. Its quieter middle panel gives the two outer works more room.
The New Painting on Its Own
I don’t find the new arrangement better, so I will keep the original triptych together. The new painting can stand on its own. Trying it alongside the other panels helped me see the first composition more clearly.
